21 November 2015

Maia, you are very vocal at the moment, chatting away all day long. I am yet to hear you say "Mamma" but I do persevere! I often ask you if you can say it, and this is your response:

Definitely a daddy's girl.

You are crawling around very confidently, and seem to be attracted to electricity plugs, cupboards, drawers, the dirty wheels of the pram, and any bits of fluff you can find on the floor. Whenever I try to stop you from touching something by saying "NO!", you just look back at me and giggle. The other night I put you on the floor when your daddy came home, and as soon as you saw him you said "Da-da!" and started crawling towards him. It was the cutest thing ever.

You love to dance to "Hot Potato" and often stop what you're doing to bop along when you either hear it on the radio or if I sing it to you.

You've also started to lift your arms up high when I sing "Row Row Row Your Boat" as I normally lifted them up at the end of each verse. I was so surprised when you first did it as I was not expecting it. You are such a clever girl.

Today we went to our first children's birthday party and you sat on the play mat playing with all the toys by yourself. You are so lovely and calm when we are out and about, everyone comments on what a calm demeanour you have. In fact, no one believes me when I say you can be a little terror at home!

You will soon be 10 months old. How time flies!  I am absolutely loving this stage of your growth, I wish I could bottle you up and keep you! You are a little firecracker but just get cuter and cuter as each day goes by.  We love you so much little Maia xxx

A little update...

Little Maia,

I think we may finally be seeing your first tooth soon! You have been a little irritable and tend to put anything hard or cold into your mouth. The other night at dinner we gave you a nice cold carrot which we had to take away for a second to cut up and make more manageable for you - you screamed so loudly your little hands were trembling! You do know how to make yourself known and do express yourself if you're not happy with something. I hope that you will keep that feistyness when you're older.

This morning your item of choice was a dog chain.

You have learnt to sit up in bed and will do so as soon as we put you down to sleep. You will sit up, scream for a bit, play with your bunny, scream some more and then fall asleep folded over yourself. Sometimes you will sit up again and cry for a second, then slump back down, like a baddie in a spoof horror movie.

It looks mighty uncomfortable but you seem to be able to sleep that way. Last night I made the mistake of coming into your room to lay you flat, which only lead you to have a major meltdown. I will leave you be from now on!

On Sunday night you entertained us all by reading us a story over dinner.

This week you've also discovered the sound "FFFF" which seems to be your favourite, after "Da!" and "Neh!". I keep trying to get you to say "Ma-ma" but you look at me and just smile or shake your head. I cannot wait to hear you say it!

You're very curious and are quite mobile now. You seem to prefer shuffling on your bum instead of crawling, probably because the wooden floor downstairs is quite slippery. Tonight I caught you snooping around our drawers:

And then doing some paperwork:
